Silent Phone App Reviews

Good idea but...

Great idea to merge Silent Text and Silent Phone. Although I’m a bit disappointed to find out that themes multiple accounts are no longer supported. I am also still looking for a way to manually reset keys like we used to be able to in Silent Text…?

App keeps crashing

Whenever I open the app, it keeps crashing and closes down within a second. Please fix it.

Help me too

All it lets you do is sign in not sign up!! Frustration!!

UGH!

Asks you to sign on, but wont let you sign up. Worthless.

???

Am I missing something? How do you create an account?

Subscription

You have to pay for monthly usage for it from silent circle on their website. App is Great

Rediculous

Terrible. Zero stars. It asks you to sign in but thee is no option to sign up. To totally stupid. W

Works well but eats battery

Very good app, call quality can be far better than the native cell phone app when connected to another phone with the same app or to a decent landline. Provides the status of encryption which is comforting. This version could be improved though. On an iPhone 5S it eats battery reserves like nothing I’ve seen. Making a call through the app actually causes the phone to heat up almost immediately. Because this happens around the speaker it becomes uncomfortable to use. To receive calls the app must be running. There is no background process that listens for inbound call.

Crashes when opens

After iOS 8 is installed, the application opens and then immediately shuts down

Worthless verison

Crashes. They know it, yet blame apple. Fix it.

CRASH CRASH CRASH!

Ios8 wrecks it totally.

Solution to NSA

According to Snowden but the App itself is horrible!

Great for privacy

Only had good experiences with this app. Using it with iOS8 without issues.

Crashes immediately on opening - every time

With iOS 8.02 or 8.1 on iPhone 5s, not usable.

Not Reliable

SilentTxt is nice - when it works. The Help Desk isnt really very helpful.

App must be open or recently opened to take incoming call

I purchased the basic plan for one month to try out the service. I was excited to use the out-circle minutes. With unlimited incoming calls from outside phones, this seemed like an excellent service to evaluate. iOS 8.1.3 IPhone 6+ I quickly found out you must have the app open to be 100% sure you will receive an incoming call to your assigned phone number from typical land/cell lines. Further exploring the issue, the app must be have been opened within the past few minutes to work as well. If the app has not been used within the last 30 - 90 minutes the incoming call from the outside land/cell line will receive an instant busy signal. I then called support and spoke to a real human regarding this. Thumbs up for getting a real person right away. The down side was unprofessional advice as to what my problem was. The person insisted it was due to weak wifi or 3G/4G signal. Neither couldnt be less true. I say unprofessional because it was like calling my non-tech brother for tech advice. This was advice, not support. I wanted them to report this up to someone who could look into it further. I got this immediate response, "Ive run into this before and its your weak signal strength." It sounded like this was a known issue and they just wanted me off the phone. Further support engagements keep telling me it needs to run in the background. I know what this means and it does run in the background. But after that 30-90 minute window passes, its over. Busy signal. If you are purchasing this app and plan to receive incoming calls from out-circle subscribers, I would not advise it. In fact, I would strongly recommend you not even consider this an option. I have not tested member-to-member messaging as I dont know anyone else with the service. Outgoing calls work good with some breaking-up from time to time. Nothing show stopping for me in this area. I would give this a one star rating based on incoming calls alone but that wouldnt be fair since I havent tested the member-to-member calling. It just seems odd that apps like Signal, Line2 and others can master the background process reliably and Silent Phone cannot. Bottom line. As a person who values their privacy, this app can be summed up in one word. Disappointing.
