ONE OF THE BEST SECURE COMMS

We have been utilizing Silent Circle for years. It has never failed me. All over the globe I traveled and relied on Silent Circle phone. It’s outstanding service and security.

On billing and billing pop ups

Hi. I recently switched the Silent Phone app from an iPhone to an android phone. Strangely to me, there are daily popups warning that the minutes for my phone calls are running out. I never got these messages on the iPhone, and I am still on the automatic debit/payment subscription. It makes me worry. Also, in viewing the Silent Phone app on the App Store, I noticed that the going monthly charge is now only around $9, I have been paying 11 something for several years. I would like your assistance to change me over to the lower billing cost.

Paid

I paid 10$ what’s is this for ? Do I have to pay again for a phone number I’m so confused

long time user

been using silent circle for a long time. when i want secure calls i use this

Bad Service

I have tried on numerous occasions to get my issue resolved to no avail. I have an account and know how to login just fine. When I click to open the app, the app appears to open, then disappears. No login screen, nothing. It just goes away. I have opened Help Desk tickets on 2 different times about this issue but get some generic response about needing to login and my account looks good to go. SMDH I’m using iPhone 11. Help and I’ll use your service and give you more money!

CEO

This is a very difficult system to figure out. If you don’t sign up first on their website then down load the app then good luck nothing works right. Even when you do sign up correctly if you have a problem or questions good luck with that as well. It will take two days for them to get back with you for every question you have. You could be waiting for weeks before you get a answer. They have no direct customer service only email and wait. It’s terrible ! Sometimes you service will go off when your on auto pay for no reason and then try to get it on again. Nope not happening. You must wait for weeks to get it back on. It’s it’s the money that keeps this company from having a real customer service then charge more for God sakes. People will pay extra for great service rather then have to wait for days and weeks to correct an issue. It goes without saying service rules.

No customer support

I purchased this app over 2 weeks ago. I am unable to make it work, I have written to tech support several times, they will not speak to anyone by phone. I get no reply. Their payment system worked perfectly, I have asked for a refund. Imagine that, No reply again...

Looks great but messaging and videoconference isn’t working

Hi! The only functioning part of the app that occurs is the silent calling feature. I have paid the $9.95 monthly subscription but there is no videoconferencing and text sections of the app. Is something missing? The download only included the call option.

Improve the security

The app is good. But modern smart phones are capable of using the internet via a wired ethernet connection. I have 2 smart phones and I can surf the internet faster using my wired ethernet connection but I cannot connect Silent Circle to the wired ethernet connection. By using a wired ethernet connection instead of WiFi the user will prevent an ad hoc anonymous connections, evil twin and honey pot connections. Would it be that difficult for silent circle to modify their app to give us a choice if we want to use silent circle via WiFi or wired ethernet. These nefarious connection are just as dangerous to our privacy as talking on a regular cell phone. Please modify the app to give us the option of using Silent Circle via a wired ethernet connection

Garbage

This app doesn’t let me register only tells me log in how I’m going to log in when I’m trying to register myself to the app so I can use it

iOS 13.1.2 caused issues

The app was great been using for a week now and today it’s not showing full text of what I write it only shows the first line of about 5 words then it’s blinded . Please fix Update! Thanks for the update version. If anybody dealing with the new iOS update and having issues with calls or texts showing full screen when writing text . Silent Circle new update fixed my issue I had with mine not working so I bump there customer service up to five stars as to fixing it fast! Thanks again to silent Circle Services.

New Accounts

How do you even establish a new account? It just has you sign in.

Latest Update

Why do I want my conversation partners to know when I add or remove a device.

Can’t create account

I just downloaded this app and there is no option to create an account. There is only a log in screen and when I made up a password and screen name, it says it incorrect. It appears that there is already an account attached to my phone even though I have never had this app before.

Latest update is causing app to crash

Hi SC Dev team, I’ve been using the app for 4.5yrs on an iPhone 5S. The most recent updates made is causing intermittent crashes when the app tries to connect to your server (red-blue- to green).

Much improved but still not an all rounder

Silent Phone has come some distance over the years. On the upside, they’ve brought stability to peer to peer VOIP calls in the app. Downside continues to be very unreliable handling of media attachments (frequent failures when attempting to share photos/videos). It’s been like this for a while so I’m not sure when it’ll get rectified by the developers. Silent World is also improved though occasionally it simply fails to dial out to countries which should be working- this normally resolves itself in a few days but there is no indication of when this disruption may happen so users must simply go with the flow. Not exactly stellar but it’s also a very useful feature of the app when it’s working fine. Support is no longer responsive- the company (which has gone through several avatars of itself) is now focused on the large Enterprise market and thus smaller users must take what they get. Signal (whisper systems) is more reliable but without the facility to call outside the app. Privacy of Silent Phone is questionable- your content may be encrypted but they know who’s talking to whom via the payment information of each client. Prepaid Cards, Ronin codes, bitcoin payment were shut down and they require a working credit card on file for each user- not exactly a panacea for anyone concerned about pattern analysis of their metadata. This is obviously information that the company can be compelled to disclose - zero knowledge system this is NOT. Cannery also pulled. Users are compelled to communicate with the company over unencrypted Email which seems quite ironic for a company focused on securing your communications. Phil Zimmerman, who was the face of trust of this company, has disappeared from its literature and his current status of involvement is not clear. Perhaps it’s time some reporters do some digging into Silent Circle and its latest corporate avatar?!

?????

I dont really find the added value of this app. Burner works far better

Siri and Silent?

I am surprised a secure messaging app would allow a siri partnership. We know that everything you do with Siri is stored on apple servers. How does silent work around this risk?

Need iPhone X support

We need iPhone X support please. The app isn’t usable on iPhone X because of the position of the phone icon & the back button (<—) above. We need it quickly. Thank you.

Great app and outstanding service!

Even though I’m a fairly new customer, I have found incredible value in the service it offers. While there are many apps that offer, and likely do, provide secure encrypted communications, I haven’t found another with the phone features. I think that many of the other apps operate under a premise that both users will have the app. But what happens when both users don’t? This is where Silent Phone offers a unique feature: a VOIP number with security built in. I serve in the military and occasionally travel to locations outside of the US. With Silent Circle and Silent Phone as long as I have WiFi connectivity I always have one phone number to call out and receive calls. This simple feature itself is is worth every penny. The ability to call anyone, whether they’re in the Silent Circle community or not, is probably the single greatest feature for me. Thank you, Silent Circle!

App Update 6.1

Thanks For the Update It's Working Excellent! Been a Customer for Several Years I Highly Recommend the service If you want Privacy in your Communications! I travel all over the USA It works Excellent!

What text?

Installed app based on friends’ recommendations. Easily installed and seems to be a phone app only. I do not see any text options.

Could Be Five Stars

I was blown away when I restarted my silent circle subscription and experienced the new redesign of the application. I am all about security, and I was so impressed with the upgraded security measures (I can't access the control panel (swipe up) or my notifications (swipe down) without it locking up, requesting my Touch ID, the data being wiped after too many failed attempts). It keeps both parties very secure because you can not leave the app without it locking. I was sold for life on the new features, but was BLOWN AWAY when I realized how easy it was to screenshot. It was a normal screenshot, and provided no notification to either party. I don't send sensitive material, so it isn't a major risk for me. However, this is a major flaw as this app is intended for secure, private communication. If they released an update that resolved this issue (either a software that auto applies a digitally applied blackout to the image, or doesn't allow screenshoting at all), this would be the greatest app out there, and easily a five star app.

It just works!

The most remarkable thing about Silent Phone is just how unremarkable it feels. You get the industry's leading security and privacy software in an affordable app that is intuitive and easy to use. And it works on the phone I already own!

intermittent audio issues

Some calls have no audio. The caller can't hear me, and I can't hear the caller.

Useless from jump

If the other person doesn't have it no go

Doesn't work on iPhone 7 Plus

I'd like to have an app for a service I'm paying for that works on the latest Apple's device...

Rec$99

Excellent app. Based in Switzerland so government can't court order unlock. Needs a short code access added, maybe with a wipe feature if too many failures.

bad

this app used to be so good back in the day.. for the past one year it keeps getting worse, i might have to switch soon to something better. also how do you add to favorites on the newest version???

After update i cant open

I made the update and cant open anymore the app...

Please! Make application lock pin code

It will be useful to lock app with password

My Favorite Texting And Calling App

This is the best for texting and calling. I would like to be able to lock the text side or the entire app behind Touch ID or a pin.

App keeps crashing

Whenever I open the app, it keeps crashing and closes down within a second. Please fix it.

Fees

Silent fees Absolutely NO functionality unless you pay monthly fee.

Finally able to make secure calls!

I worry about making phone calls back to the states when I travel for business. When I first heard about Silent Phone from a news article, I was skeptical. Nothing is ever as it seems in advertising. I’ve been using this for my business and personal communications now for a month. Getting started was a little tricky since you have to sign up on their website, but for a little over $10 a month I can send files back and forth to my office, send messages on status updates and even call my vendors who aren’t on the system. I wish there was a way to message more than one person at a time, but the trade-off is I knowing my words are not being snooped across the internet. I love the “burn” feature too, though I’m not certain that it is really deleted off all servers. The features I would like to see are voicemail or at least some way for people to contact me if I don’t answer right away, and group texts so I can update my team abroad.

PLEASE

Please fix txt messages, two updates ago broke them and last update didn't address it. PLEASE THIS IS A PAID SUBSCRIPTION!

New update now text doesn't work

Text say delivered but aren't being delivered. Tested several times, reset the app also re signed in and did everything possible that I could and it's like the app text do not work

Won't even let me make an account

This app is giving an error message every time I try to sign up. Extremely poor usability already and I haven't even entered the app

Used be OK all things considered but not anymore.

Bugtastic. When the new icons rolled out I resisted until the separate messaging app got shelved. I still don't like the new icons but at least things worked for a while. Now with this latest update the navigation really lags and pretty much just hangs or crashes the app. For at least a couple years now I've been a paid user, but this is still not an app I can get people who I communicate with every day onto. Encrypted mobile VOIP is hard beyond app developers' control because we need bigger and faster pipes. I get that. But in the meantime at least give me an app that I can use over WiFi, and in a way that can be configured with iOS call forwarding such that anytime I'm on WiFi incoming calls get forwarded to my Silent Circle number so I needn't give it out, and have a work-around for how the pipes aren't such that one can use encryption on calls all the time. Make encrypted calls work as much as possible because otherwise the value is just in encrypted messaging and there are a lot of other freemium options out there that do that at least as well.

It sounds like the other end is drunk!

Is not so funny as it sounds....

People who really care about your privacy. They are working out the bugs.

Best software of its kind and I believe the company is credible. Give the support a chance they don't respond on weekends but they will help you if you need it.

Passcode - Very Important

Yes, what happened to the passcode and sending files? I also want to be able to turn off read receipts. The old text message verification was much better than comparing the fingerprints. And the list of current text conversations are not color coded so they all look alike. I want to be able to choose colors to associate with my contacts. The grey text on grey background is not good. I remember the previous color scheme being much better. The flame color is also just a shadow of its former self.

Great product! Customer service not so much

Love the service love the app. Secure calls and text, great reception and fast connection. Encryption has never been so easy. Have been trying to update my CC info for a week and the customer service at SC is almost non existent. Won't answer, don't return calls, I finally talked to someone that was going to send me a password rest but never did. Now my billing is due and I can't change my info. Frustrating!

This app has gotten worse.

Voice recordings are no longer reliable, and often show as can not decrypt. I can no longer use it to send enclosure other than photos. I have lots my ability to to protect my contacts, and the loss of multiple accounts makes it impossible to use this without leaking my identity to my sources. The texting feature is only suitable for hobby use. The phone app work OK most of the time, for texting this app isn’t at all up to par.

Low reliability + poor support = Silent Circle

{latest update hasn't fixed what's broken & support hasn't replied to silent text messages for two weeks} My assessment, after two years paid subscription, is Silent Circle remains a functionally impaired communication service with low reliability (Not withstanding their marketing outreach). Frequent call drops, messages not being delivered and app crashes means this is a effectively a "vanity privacy service". One might enjoy some privacy- when the app is functioning- but to rely on it as dependable system for communication is begging for disaster to strike, as my team has learnt the hard way. It was one thing to slug it out as an early adopter two years ago (in support of a privacy focused company with Phil Zimmerman onboard) but this far along one expects some return on investment and faith. Unfortunately, Silent Circle has fallen short. This latest "upgrade" is a disaster, with functions removed and reliability going down considerably. You cannot depend on it. Period.

Significant Step Backwards

I've long enjoyed my Silent Circle subscription but the merging of Silent Text and Silent Phone was a significant mistake (at least in the current development cycle). Major functionality is missing and the app is regularly unusable for me due to constant crashing. I've been holding out hope of an upgrade but I'm now approaching two months of paying for a broken app. Will be unsubscribing.

"Upgrade" makes system useless

I really really want to love this but they just keep screwing it up. The latest version crashes every time you try to send a text. Silent Text was retired with no notice and merged it into Silent Phone. That would be nice...if it worked. It's been over a week since the update...no fix. If this was free I wouldnt gripe (much) but this is an expensive app.
